"Family Tree" shows a boy out on a limb, looking outward, intrigued by what might lie beyond.
The mother clings close to the reassuring stability of the trunk, gazing with concern at the
precarious position of her son who she knows will one day leave the family home. The tree
featured here is another Australian gum tree (there are many varieties). I love the
twisting snarl of branches, each of which seems to present another path of exploration.
