This painting is the first in my series of "Madonna" paintings depicting a benevolent
human female interacting in a nurturing, compassionate way with various groups of plants
and animals. The concept is to portray a sort of subclass of Mother Nature.
I see these works as a celebration of both biodiversity and the creative power of the female,
as well as a bid for a more motherly, nurturing relationship with the natural world,
as opposed to the more destructive paternalistic approach which emphasizes dominion and consumption.
